Viewers and romantic hopefuls alike will recognize a familiar face in Bachelor alumni Sharleen Joynt, who steps into Paradise as host of Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise Canada. Having experienced the Bachelor journey firsthand before going on to find her own happily ever after beyond the show, Sharleen’s unique outlook on all things love and #BachelorNation will be an invaluable resource for this season’s former bachelors and bachelorettes – and new Canadian singles – as they embark on their own search for love.
A multi-disciplined talent, ranging from international opera singer, to blogger, to podcast host, Sharleen hails from the nation’s capital of Ottawa, ON. She first got her start on the National Arts Center stage, singing the soprano solo in Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, starring Christopher Plummer as narrator, in her professional debut at age 16. Since then, Sharleen has gone on to receive her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and international acclaim in the opera world, recently appearing in the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera, Ravinia Music Festival, Florida Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, Tanglewood Music Festival, among many others. Having lived and worked in Germany for several years, she has been nominated for both the prestigious “Der Faust” prize, awarded by the German Stage Association, as well as Nachwunschsängerin (Young Singer of the Year) by Opernwelt magazine.
Sharleen’s Bachelor journey came to a premature end of her own volition on Season 18 of The Bachelor U.S., when she realized that she didn’t feel as strongly for bachelor Juan Pablo as he did for her and decided to leave. Confirming she made the right decision, it wasn’t long after that that Sharleen met and married her now husband Andy Levine.
Following her seven-year stint as the resident Bachelor franchise recapper for FLARE magazine, Sharleen launched the hilarious, no-holds-barred relationship advice podcast Dear Shandy with her husband Andy in 2020. Self-described as “two fiercely independent people who are skeptical of love stories and don’t believe in fate, soulmates, or The One,” the couple share how they learned dating lessons by living them – and wound up happily married. The show also features a range of interviews and discussions with celebrities and former fan-favourite bachelors and bachelorettes, as well as humorous, insightful, and unique Bachelor recaps.
