Important Changes for Citytv Over-The-Air Channels

We would like to inform you of an important change on how you watch Citytv. Citytv along with other Canadian television broadcasters is in the process of changing some of our over-the-air DTV channels as part of an initiative mandated by Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada (ISED). This means that the Citytv channel(s) in your area must change their DTV channel frequency. Depending on where you live, the changes will take place in May or June of this year.

If you use an over-the-air rooftop or indoor antenna to watch Citytv, you will need to re-scan these channels to restore service. Below are a few easy steps for you to follow to re-scan the affected television channel(s) in your area. Please also refer to your TV manual for model-specific details. Please note, viewers with direct-to-home TV, cable or IPTV will not be affected.

How Do I Re-Scan Citytv?
1. Press “Settings” or “Menu” on the TV remote control
2. Click “Channel”
3. Select “Auto Channel Program”

This will update the Citytv channel(s) in your area and restore service. The process can take several minutes to complete. The changes taking place are mostly hidden to you the viewer. The channel frequency will change, requiring you to re-scan, but the channel number displayed on your television set will remain the same as what you currently see.

Q: What is the History of building?

Located in Toronto’s downtown core, the intersection of Yonge and Dundas is constantly abuzz with shoppers, tourists, street entertainers and more. Giant billboards and jumbotron screens keep the sky lit through the wee hours of the morning, a constant reminder that the heartbeat of the city is always thumping.

Citytv and OMNI Television will be adding more vivacity to the heart of the city when both Rogers stations formally make the former Olympic Spirit Toronto facility their new home.

Opened to the public in August 2004, the former Olympic Spirit Toronto facility sits just across the Square and was designed to give non-Olympians an Olympic experience through a variety of interactive demonstrations and exhibits. The launch of the 52,000 square-foot complex was a proud moment for Canadians. For one, the centre highlighted the stories and contributions of Canadian athletes throughout history. Olympic Spirit Toronto was also the first centre of its kind in the world.

On the southeast corner sits Yonge-Dundas Square, an open public space home to a wide range of community events and celebrations. When not hosting special events, the Square becomes an urban meeting place for the public to enjoy. Since its official opening in 2003, the Square has become a unique focal point of the busy downtown area.
